Dream Family follows a nightmare!
Posted by admin in Portrait Photography on October 15th, 2009
Yes readers, yes. After checking out the studio in person and confirming our booking to shoot some family portraits the next week, I did turn up that morning to find said studio already occupied and indeed - double booked.
All I can say is. . .deep breaths, remain calm. In reality there is nothing to be done except save the situation for my clients as best as possible.
Fortunately I had arrived well before my clients were due so I rang them, explained the scenario and suggested coming to them. The studio were savvy enough to be able to offer lights etc to take to the family, but as I was unsure of the family’s environment I declined, providing we could reschedule the studio to my clients’ needs.
I was lucky in this situation, as it is indeed a sticky one. I was lucky that the day’s shoot with the family also included shots at their home, so coming to them straight away was not too unusual. I was also lucky that the clients were relaxed, easy going and not on a deadline.
So, nightmare behind me, I went to my clients. And what a great time! Wanting to capture the nature of this family’s everyday life I arrived while baby Harry was still sleeping - perfect! Some beautiful shots of sleeping babe and sleepy baby greeting mum!

This is the kind of photography I love, telling the story! The longer the better. This family was great, happy to let me photograph whatever they were doing and would do whatever I suggested! And they didn’t ever seem to get sick of being photographed, a photographers dream!

Play time
Baby Harry was the cutest thing and mum and dad were friendly, relaxed and animated.
The family routine they let me witness was friendly and fun, a small insight into this time in their world. Indeed it will change, another baby, a different house or just an older Harry brings different daily fun! Hopefully the beautiful, spontaneous moments we were able to capture will always bring fond memories!

Happy Harry
